Rings: 001 [Action, Accidental Video]

[So, Luceti. All's quiet this cold afternoon in the village and in the forest, right?

Well, it probably isn't anymore. In the forest, trees can be seen being bent and the leafless branches sway as something blasts by at high speed. Those with sharp eyes can catch a blue streak dashing along the ground, wind wrapping around it at its point, looking almost like a comet. A comet that leaps over every obstruction in its path without hesitation, and even bounces from tree to tree to clear any gaps... until it comes across one of the streams.

The blue blur doesn't hesitate, and instead begins following the river downstream, running along its surface, sending water flying back behind it in a wave... until it finds its way into the village.

Here the streak slows down enough that the wind surrounding it dissipates. Sonic takes his run through the village slower so he doesn't hit anyone, but he does take needlessly roundabout paths, bounding along the roofs of houses, off the sides of community buildings and along the tops of lamp posts until he makes it into the square. Here he finally stops, kicking up a large cloud of dust as he does so.

He pauses and takes a look around the square, his journal under his arm, unaware it started recording. With a casual scratch of his head, he then shakes his head, his blue quills gently swaying as he does so.]

Yup, definitely looks like I'm not in Kansas anymore. [He shrugs, then runs a finger along one of his wings, somewhat annoyed.] Not that I was there to begin with.

[Sonic then turns to anyone else in the square.]

Hey! Can anyone give me directions outta "Now-I-Have-Wings Land?" Can't really say I'm a fan...

[Dash was just minding her own business, zooming through the air and pulling off some awesome stunts. However, that blue... streak speeding by, too fast for the naked eye totally caught her attention.

So what does she do as she watches trees bend back from the pure momentum of this mysterious streak? She dives down, following from above at a rapid pace. If Sonic pays close enough attention, he might spot some rainbow following him up above.

And when he does reach the village, that rainbow rockets down in front of him, stopping just a few inches off the ground.]

Okay, that wasn't too bad.

[But she's still faster. She will make this known.]

[Sonic just looks at her kind of incredulously. He doesn't seem to bat an eye that he's talking to a pegasus, let alone one with a rainbow mane.]

Oh? Well, you haven't seen anything yet. I wasn't even in a hurry.

[Rydia on her way back to the Welcome Center after a short break, stops and stares upon seeing a certain someone ahead. Well. It's been a while.]

...Sonic...?

[wannabolt]

Oh yeah?

[Pffft. She rolls her eyes and crosses her front legs like arms.]

Why don't you prove it?

[He turns when he hears his name.]

Huh? How'd you know my name?

[He doubts he's famous out here...]

You know it.

But who are you, anyway? Don't normally race without getting a name first.

[Oh, and she just smirks. About time she got some decent competition.]

Name's Rainbow Dash!

[Her tail swishes.]

And just so you know, I'm the fastest flyer around.

[...he doesn't recognize her. That's bound to happen in Luceti, but there's a slight stab of disappointment, all the same. She approaches, though stops a few paces before him.]

I know, because you've been here before...even though you don't remember it. I'm Rydia, one of the volunteers at the Welcome Center.

And I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog.

[He smirks.]

Well, you may be the fastest flier, but I doubt you're the fastest thing alive.

...That just makes me even more confused. How could I have been here before? What is this place, anyway?

[His wings twitch a bit, and he turns around and glares at them a bit. Still, he turns back to Rydia and gives her a smile.]

...Anyway, nice to meet you, Rydia. Guess you already know my name, so we can skip that step.

[wannabolt]

Oh yeah?

[She leans forward and puffs out her chest.]

Well, that's where you're wrong!

[Nopony and nobody is gonna steal her title as Luceti's fastest. No way!]

[She smiles back, nodding.]

Right. And I'll explain what I can, but would you rather get away from the cold, first? There's cocoa, cider and tea inside.

[She gestures to the small building that's the nexus for all things New Feather.]

[So here he was, just going through the village with his black cloak on and his distinctly wing-shaped sword in hand. Nothing strange-- at least until he catches Sonic zooming on by!

Yeah, okay. Other than the occasional rainbows up in the air, Luceti isn't really known for speedsters. Still, he's curious enough to follow, and, wouldn't you know? There's a blue hedgehog asking for directions.

...heh. Figures.]

Hate to break it to you, Sonic, but you're as stuck as the rest of us.

[He's assuming Sonic doesn't remember, but hey, details.]

[Sonic leans forward and points his thumb back at himself.]

Am I? Name the rules, and we'll see who has the game to back it up!

That's a good idea. Wouldn't want either of us to catch cold... and some cocoa sounds pretty good right now!

[Sonic, taking everything in stride. He'll follow alongside Rydia as they head into the Welcome Center.]

How about a mad dash...

[She flies a bit higher for a moment, and... yep!

With a destination in sight, she hovers back down.]

All the way to the beach! No teleporters. If we're gonna race, we're doing it the long way.

[Which really isn't that long, all things considered.]

You up for it, or are you all talk and no play?

How did you know... never mind. I get the feeling I should be feeling some kinda deja-vu but... naaaah.

[He lightly crosses his arms.]

Stuck, huh? Care to explain what that means? Aside from that invisible wall out there?

You say that like I need a teleporter to get somewhere fast.

[He watched the way Dash was looking. Beach, huh? Must've been in that direction, and no matter what was in the way, he could get there.

Nonchalantly, he briefly stretches out his legs.]

Oh ho, I'm up for it. Just don't get upset when I beat ya there.

[wannabolt]

Yeah right.

[Two can play at this game, spiky. Dash stretches out in the air, looking as smug as ever.]

I hate to break it to you, but you'll be the one in second place once I'm through with you!

We'll see about that. How about we just let our legs do the talking now? I'm gettin' bored with waiting.

[And Sonic crouches down into a runner's starting position. He doesn't even need starting blocks.]

You're on!

[She'll ready herself as well, even if she'll be winging it. Heh.]

3... 2... 1...

[Let's do this thing!]

[Riku shakes his head and snickers.]

Nah. Most people forget this place.

[He places a hand on his hip.]

Anyway, that barrier's only part of it. Once somebody shows up here, they're a sitting duck. Not even a portal can get you out.

[And he's tried.]

Go!!

[And Sonic's off like a rocket, wind wrapping around him in a blue blur. He definitely wasn't bluffing about not being in a hurry before... because damn, he can move.

Better be fast off the line, Dash!]

[Oh, no worries there! Dash was built for speed, and as soon as Sonic takes off, she'll be zooming up above at an incredible speed, leaving a streak of rainbow in her wake.

She's not used to racing someone this speedy, so she'll be giving it her all. After all, her pride's at stake!]

Considering the barrier's hedgehog-proof, I'm not too surprised about that not working either if someone wants to keep us here. Have we tried flying over it or tunneling under it?

...And this hedgehog's never a sitting duck. But what's got us stuck here, anyway?
